KPT (Keep, Problem, Try) is a super simple and powerful way to reflect on your past experiences and figure out how to do better next time.

Instead of writing a long, complicated essay, you only need to answer three simple things:

How to write a KPT

  1. Keep: What went well? What good habits or actions are you proud of and want to keep doing next time?
  2. Problem: What went wrong or was disappointing? Don't blame yourself; just honestly write down the facts of what didn't work out.
  3. Try: What exactly will you try differently next time to fix the 'Problem'? This must be a specific, actionable step, not a vague goal.
  4. Good 'Try': "Sit at my desk for 30 minutes right after work." (Specific and actionable)
  5. Bad 'Try': "Focus harder next time." (Too vague)
